Charles-Lemoyne School
In Pointe-Saint-Charles, a disadvantaged but strongly united neighbourghood, the Charles-Lemoyne School set itself a challenge : creating an educational vegetable garden in a concrete yard between two buildings.
A large variety of vegetables, aromatic and medicinal herbs, edible flowers were planted in about fifty self-watering containers. Students -from pre-kindergarten to 6th year- took part in workshops on indoor seedlings and transplanting, among others. They also committed themselves to take care of the garden with their teachers until the end of school. Helped by their parents during summer, they could finally harvest what they sowed in May.
