Haiti - APROSIFA Project
Alternatives is working in partnership with APROSIFA (Association for the Promotion of Integrated Family Health) to develop an urban agriculture initiative in Port-au-Prince. Up to 600 participants are engaged in food-producing projects centred on their residences in order to address both their short-term and long-term food security needs.
Urban agriculture is a new concept in Haiti and there are currently no policies governing it. We believe that a multi-stakeholder approach, involving local government and supporting local capacity building within communities and organisations is essential to further the development of urban agriculture in PaP and the integration of such practices in urban planning processes.
